Itinerary of our Black Forest Road Trip
In this quaint town, you have the option to go on a hike to see the impressive Triberg waterfall, one of the highest waterfalls in Germany, or wander around for sight-seeing.
11:00 Free time around Triberg
Seek out the largest cuckoo clock in the world as well as admire the baroque architecture of local church, Maria in der Tanne, built in the 18th century. Be sure to look out for Triberg’s very own Black Forest ham known as “Triberger Fichtenschinken”. There are a few places that will offer you a taste of this local delicacy, so feel free to go look for it and enjoy a delicious snack.
12:40 Arrive in Breitnau
At this pit stop, you can explore the surrounding area and take photos of the impressive Ravenna Gorge Bridge cutting through a gorge. During this time of the year, the autumn leaves are spectacularly colorful.
Freiburg is a bustling university town with medieval architecture. For those who are craving for a bite, you can join your guide and walk to the Markthalle, a food hall with many stalls offering cuisines from different parts of the world. Enjoy a delicious meal with your new friends and soak in the vibrant ambiance of this food hall.
14:30 Optional tour to Colmar.
Your team leader will guide you to another small adventure of getting to Colmar using public transportation. We only have limited space of 24 seats based on “first come-first serve”. Make sure you book early if you want to go.
15:35 Free time to explore the city
See a mix of old and new in Freiburg as you wander around this picture-perfect town. You are welcome to meet your guide at Freiburg Münster to tour this renowned cathedral with one of the most beautiful spires in the world. Consider visiting the Augustiner Museum to learn more about the heritage of Freiburg and the surrounding region of Black Forest. At the same time, do not miss out on trying the authentic Black Forest cake!
18:30 Schlossberg Viewing Tower
If you are keen to do some hiking, then you should take the time to climb up the Schlossberg hill. At the top of the hill, you will come across a unique viewing tower. Join your guide and some of your travel companions and go up to the 251-step Schlossberg Viewing Tower for a memorable panorama of Freiburg!
20:00 Dinner and drinks at Biergarten
Enjoy the local beer culture. At the Biergarten, you can sample some local dishes as well as kick back and savor some delicious German beer of the region. Have a chat with your travel mates and recap on the fruitful day you have had.
23:30 Gather for departure
After a long day of exploring and sightseeing around the region of Black Forest, it is time to make your way to the designated meeting point and get ready for your bus ride back to your home city.
