Itinerary of our Road Trip to Castles and medieval Cities! Burg Eltz + Cochem 18.04.
You will have time to enter the castle for a tour, and it is recommended that you do, because you will get to see precious stained glass, ancient furniture, and weapons, giving you a sense of how life used to be like more than 800 years ago.
12:30 Depart for Cochem
Hop back on the bus to continue our road trip through Germany towards the bustling city of Cologne.
<li With the warmer weather returning during early summer, you can go sampling some regional wine or beer at the outdoor terraces of local bars and restaurants. To further experience the German culture, consider dining in a traditional eatery that serves authentic German food, such as roasted pork knuckle, schnitzel, and sausages.
For an unforgettable panorama of Cochem, you should definitely take the gondola chairlift all the way to the Pinnerkreuz lookout point, where you will be treated to a fantastic bird’s-eye view of the Moselle Valley. To get to know more about the region’s history, pay a visit to the Mosselland Museum for a glimpse of the rural lifestyle led by the locals in the past, or check out the historic mustard mill where you can see how mustard is made. Go for a free mustard tasting during your visit and discover why it is the favorite condiment of the Germans!
Spring is a lovely time for hiking and you can certainly do that with your travel companions at Cochem. You can consider taking the Moselhöhenweg hiking trail, passing through vineyards and meandering river sights. Or go on a boat ride through the inland waterway to soak in the idyllic charm of the city.
If you are a wine aficionado, Cochem is the perfect place to go wine tasting. Gather your travel mates and enjoy a leisurely afternoon in a local bar or restaurant, as you savor a refreshing Riesling or a silky Spätburgunder. Since you are in Germany after all, you should definitely try some local beer too. For a taste of the German culture, seek out some delicious German dishes like the famous pork knuckle, schnitzel or juicy sausages, which will leave you craving more, even after your trip has ended.
