Itinerary to our Russia trip
16:00 Gather & depart from Helsinki on a cruise
16:00 Gather & depart from Helsinki on a cruise
Fly in early to Helsinki to explore the city on your own before easing into your 6-day trip on a relaxing cruise. Helsinki is a modern design hub with historic architecture. Marvel at the Helsinki Cathedral, frequently seen on postcards and Instagram, then wander through the Market Square for authentic sights, scents and sounds of the city. Since it is Easter, do not miss the Temppeliaukio Church, a Lutheran church carved into solid rock; or Suomenlinna, an 18th-century sea fortress worth discovering. There are also many world-class museums to check out, such as the Design Museum Helsinki for the design aficionados, and The National Museum of Finland for those curious to know more about the history and culture of Finland.
After exploring Helsinki, it is time to board the cruise ship, get to know other travel companions and make your way towards the magnificent St Petersburg!
16:15 After the guided tour, wander around the city with your newfound travel friends! Have an early dinner and stroll along the riverside. Or if you prefer to take your time to walk through the city and see how the locals live, you have the freedom to do so. St Petersburg also has a vibrant nightlife. During the free time in the evening, you can gather your travel mates to explore the party hotspots of the city.
12:30 Gather back at Isaak Platz
It is time to head to the hostel and we had organized a private transfer for everyone. After checking in, you can rest up for a bit, freshen up and plan what to do next.
14:00 Guided Tour
Make your way to the impressive Kazan Church for a guided tour to get to know more about St Petersburg. On this 2,5-hour tour, you will hear about the history and see interesting landmarks of the city.
16:15 Free time
After the guided tour, you are free to wander around the city with your newfound travel friends.
If you are feeling hungry, this is a good time to try the delicious local dishes. From the hearty Russian dumplings known as Pelmeni to crowd-pleasing stews like Solyanka and Zharkoe, there is much to savor when it comes to Russian cuisine.
This being the holy week leading up to the Russian Orthodox Easter, you can also join in the religious services in the churches if you like.
A boat ride down the Fontanka river could be one of the more beautiful ways to soak in the sights of the magnificent city of St Petersburg. Get on a boat with your travel companions and glide through canals, cross under stone bridges and be transported to another era.
You can also spend the rest of the evening exploring the vibrant nightlife of St Petersburg. Take the chance to go on a pub crawl with your travel companions and experience the party vibe of the city.
21:10 Depart for Moscow or remain in St Petersburg
You will have the option of making a trip to Moscow if you like. Travel to the capital of Russia on a sleeper train and find yourself waking up to the awe-inspiring sights of Moscow.
Optional trip: Moscow
Our good-value-for-money optional trip to Moscow will include a return train ride, guided tours and a metro day pass for travelers who are keen to discover the allure of the capital of Russia. On this day trip, you will learn about history, be charmed by the majestic architecture and enjoy Moscow at its finest! Do not miss this fantastic deal and get the chance to see another European city.
Arrive in Moscow
07:30 After having breakfast at the train station, you can kickstart your day in Moscow by joining a tour led by a professional guide so you can truly experience everything Moscow has to offer.
On the tour, you will visit and pass by famous sites, monuments and landmarks, such as the Patriarchal Bridge, Monument to Peter I, Kremlin and St. Basil’s Cathedral, Red Square and the Bolshoi Theatre.
11:00 Free time
At the end of the guided tour, you will have free time to further explore the city. You can consider visiting the Kremlin Museum or joining your travel companions for a warm lunch to enjoy more Russian dishes.
14:00 Back in the USSR tour
History buffs would be keen to go on this guided tour to explore the history of Russia from the revolution to the fall of the Soviet Union. See history come to life as you walk through famous streets and iconic places. Hear stories of life behind the Iron Curtain and get to know more about how Moscow has changed over time.
16:00 Free time
You can spend the free time you have in Moscow shopping for Easter theme souvenirs, sampling vodka or chilling at a café, watching local life unfold and appreciating the beautiful springtime vibe. Some bakeries might have started selling traditional Lent food. Russian Orthodox Easter usually falls on a different date, so if you come across the Easter bread-like kulich or paskha, feel free to give that a try.
22:00 Gather for departure
After a fun-filled day exploring Moscow, it is time to head back to St Petersburg by train.
15:30 Check-in at the cruise
It is time to bid farewell to Russia as the tour proceeds on to Tallinn in Estonia. There will be a party on the cruise where you can let loose and have some fun with your travel companions.
12:30 Arrive in Tallinn
Tallinn is the capital of Estonia. Its ancient Old Town is like a page out of the storybooks. During Easter, the city becomes even more busy and vibrant, as locals welcome the arrival of spring. Take some time to wander around the historic Old Town and get to know more about this alluring city.
14:00 Tour the Old Town
Go on a guided tour to the upper and lower Old Town of Tallinn. Take in its Gothic architecture, medieval buildings, onion-domed cathedrals and soak in its cultural vibes.
After the tour, you will have free time to explore more of Tallinn. You can go shopping for artisanal souvenirs and gifts and participate in egg painting or Easter egg hunts. For the foodies, why not go in search of delicious Estonian delicacies?
