Itinerary for our France Spring Road Trip: Mont St Michel + Honfleur 02.05.
Talk a walk towards the magical island, which is surrounded by water during high tide. Explore the village and slowly make your way up to the top of the rocky island, where a medieval abbey is situated.
During high tide, the island is isolated from land, and stands alone in the waters, looking like a page out of a fairytale. At low tide, the water recedes, revealing the sand, streams, and mudflats that surround this iconic island. Make sure you check the tide times so you can see the different looks of Mont-Saint-Michel.
Take a walk towards Mont-Saint-Michel and be mesmerized by the panorama surrounding this mystical island. There are many beautiful spots along the way for photography too so get ready to share some gorgeous photos on Instagram!
Make your way to the Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel, a Benedictine abbey that will transport you back to the Middle Ages. Stroll along La Grande Rue, one of the main streets in the village and pass by quaint shops, cafes and restaurants, before arriving at the abbey. Go on a guided tour to learn about the history of Mont-Saint-Michel, then take your time to wander through the different chambers and the impressive cloister.
16:15 Gather for departure towards Honfleur
Meet up with the rest of your travel group and get ready for your journey towards the postcard-worthy town of Honfleur.
Venture towards the old town to discover half-timbered houses and spectacular stone buildings, then gather with your new friends to savor a traditional dinner, Normandy style! Some interesting food to try include cheeses like camembert and Livarot, drinks made of apple, ranging from cider to calvados, and for a hearty snack, look out for freshly made crepes!
For dinner, why not gather with your travel companions to try some specialty dishes in a local bistro? Be sure to quench your thirst with drinks such as cider, pommeau, and calvados, which are all famous in Normandy. The region is also home to creamy cheeses like camembert and Livarot.
