Itinerary of our Highlights of West Germany! Burg Eltz + Cologne Road Trip 18.04.
You will have time to enter the castle for a tour, and it is recommended that you do, because you will get to see precious stained glass, ancient furniture, and weapons, giving you a sense of how life used to be like more than 800 years ago.
12:00 Depart for Cologne
Hop back on the bus to continue our road trip through Germany towards the bustling city of Cologne.
You can consider joining a walking tour or bike tour or wander the city on your own. Cologne is a dynamic city with much to see and do.
With many interconnecting streets where shoppers can browse and shop, you can get caught up in the vibrant atmosphere simply by strolling along the Schildergasse. Art lovers should pay a visit to the Wallraf-Richartz Museum or the Museum Ludwig, where you can view an exclusive collection of Piccaso’s works. Foodies definitely should not miss a tour to the Chocolate Museum, where you learn about the history of chocolate and its making process.
To truly appreciate the German culture, you have to visit a traditional beer hall, where locals gather for tasty German dishes and an endless round of delicious beer. Try the roasted pork knuckle, a beloved German dish usually served with sauerkraut and potato salad. If you are craving more, then why not sample some sausages, especially the currywurst, a unique sausage dish only to be found in Germany.
23:30 Gather for departure
Cologne is truly fascinating and a day trip might not be enough for you to fully soak in its charm. If you have fallen in love with this über-cool city, why not consider visiting it during Christmas? Our Christmas in Cologne tour will allow you to experience this amazing city during the most festive time of the year!
